Tracking: Shipment Status Terminology

As you track your shipment, you’ll notice the status updates as it progresses toward its final destination. This status may appear on the search results page or within the detailed progress view of a specific shipment.

Below is a guide to help you understand the various shipment status terms you may encounter:

  • 1st, 2nd, 3rd Message Left for Consignee: Lynden has notified the consignee of freight availability on one or more occasions.
  • Attempted Delivery: A Lynden driver attempted delivery to the consignee but was unable to transfer possession. A future delivery will be attempted.
  • Booked To ***: This status applies to our freight forwarding air division. Flight information for a leg of your freight’s journey.
  • Customer Note: Users will need to log in to EZ Commerce to see notes from Lynden.
  • Customs Delay: A delay in customs clearance due to issues with documentation, regulations or other reasons that prevent immediate release.
  • Customs Entry in Process: The ongoing state of a customs entry, where the formal documentation and procedures for declaring goods to customs authorities have been initiated but not yet fully completed or processed by U.S. Customs.
  • Customs Release Received: A shipment has successfully completed the customs clearance process, and the shipment is officially authorized to move forward towards its final destination.
  • Delay due to Weather: Transportation Service disrupted due to weather incidents.
  • Delivered: Freight has been picked up from a Lynden Service Center or delivered to the consignee at its final destination. Lynden is no longer in possession of the freight.
  • Delivery Appt Cancelled: Consignee or Lynden has cancelled the date and time of the previously set delivery appointment. A new appointment may be in process, or it may no longer be necessary.
  • Delivery Appt: The date and time the consignee has arranged for Lynden to deliver freight to the final destination.
  • Departed For ***: A dispatch event has occurred. The freight has departed for the location listed, leaving from the location shown on the right.
  • Docs Received at Destination: Shipping Documents received at destination location.
  • Documents to Customs Broker: Documents have been provided to the appointed customs broker.
  • Freight Availability Date: The tentative date and time, set by Lynden, when cargo can be picked up at Lynden Service Center or is available for a delivery route.
  • Hold for Delivery – Shipment on Hand for follow up: Shipment on hand for follow up. Awaiting delivery instructions.
  • Hold for Pickup: Date designated when the consignee plans to pick up freight from Lynden service center.
  • In Bond: Goods are being transported under the supervision of customs authorities from the point of entry to an inland destination, where they await clearance or re-export.
  • In Transit: Your freight is moving between origin and destination; it may have intermediate stops on its route. Once your freight has arrived at the final destination, the status displays “In Transit” at the Service Center until Lynden has made the freight available for pickup or scheduled delivery.
  • ISF Filed: Import Security Filing has been processed by the appointed customs broker.
  • Left Message: Lynden has contacted and left a message with the consignee.
  • No Answer: Lynden has contacted the consignee without response.
  • Notified: Lynden has notified the consignee of freight status.
  • Out For Delivery: Lynden has arranged to deliver the freight to the consignee; it is on the last leg of the route to its destination and should arrive soon.
  • Partial Delivery: Lynden has delivered some freight of tendered shipment, but a portion is still in Lynden possession.
  • Rated Filed with FMC: Ocean rates are filed with the Federal Maritime Commission.
  • Received: Lynden is now in possession of your freight, either at our Service Center or a partner location.
  • Requested: Lynden has created a pending shipment based on a customer’s request but is not yet in possession of the freight. Your freight may be en route via Lynden or a partner carrier.
  • Sent On-Hand Notice: Customer notified their freight has been on-hand at a Lynden service center for over a designated count of days.
  • Shipment Refused: Consignee has refused freight when Lynden made available for pickup or delivery. Shipper will be notified.
  • Signed By: Proof of Delivery information given at the time of delivery.
  • Storage: Consignee has surpassed the free days for freight at Lynden Service Center. Freight has been put into storage and may be subject to fees.
  • Unable to Contact: Lynden has attempted to reach a customer without success. Contact information provided, such as name, phone or email, may be incorrect.
