What you need to know:

  • We provide transportation of your vehicle between our Service Centers only. View a list of our locations.
  • Rates are based on overall dimensions, including cargo racks, bike racks, mirrors, hitches, etc. Cargo racks must be enclosed and designed to be attached to the vehicle. Bike racks must be empty.
  • Customers shipping to Alaska – Personal effects are allowed in the vehicle, but are only accepted at a release valuation of $0.10 per pound. This means if the personal effects are damaged in transit, the maximum coverage offered is $0.10 per pound. The weight of the personal effects must be noted on the bill of lading for this coverage to apply.
  • Customers shipping to Hawaii – Only factory-installed equipment is allowed in the vehicle. Personal effects and all other non-factory installed equipment are prohibited from being loaded into the vehicle.
  • We do ship to other islands in Hawaii beyond O’ahu. For these locations, a copy of the vehicle registration, lien holder affidavit (if applicable), and driver’s license must be provided.
  • We accept inoperable vehicles, but there is an additional charge at origin and destination for loading and off-loading.
  • The vehicle needs to be delivered to us with less than 1/4 tank of fuel.
  • Larger vehicles may travel on open platforms.
  • Exceptions may apply and will be provided at time of booking.

Follow these instructions for shipping your vehicle

  • Customers shipping to Alaska – Personal effects are allowed but not permitted in the front seat or on the floor behind the driver’s seat. 360-degree visibility is required. Personal effects are not permitted on roof or roof racks, with the exception of car-top carriers that are specifically designed to be securely attached to such racks and enclosed. For pickup trucks, personal effects are not permitted above the level of the cargo bed and must be adequately secured and protected by the shipper. Loads are subject to carrier inspection and approval.
  • Customers shipping to Alaska – The following may NOT be shipped in your vehicle: hazardous materials, items of extraordinary value, goods shipped for sale or speculation, or firearms.
  • Larger vehicles may travel on open platforms so personal effects should be packaged and secured to withstand the rigors of ocean travel.
  • Customers shipping to Hawaii – Only factory-installed equipment is allowed in the vehicle. Personal effects and all other non-factory installed equipment are prohibited from being loaded into the vehicle.
  • Vehicles may not exceed the maximum legal gross weight as specified by the manufacturer. The gross vehicle weight can typically be found stamped on the inside of the driver door jamb.
  • The vehicle needs to be delivered to us with less than 1/4 tank of fuel. This is a U.S. Coast Guard regulation. If the vehicle contains more than 1/4 tank of fuel, a fuel drainage fee will be added to your freight bill.
  • An exemption from Washington sales tax may be available for residents of Alaska and Hawaii. Learn more
  • Your vehicle shipment must be booked in advance. To request a booking number, please submit our form or contact us.
  • We ask that vehicle shipments be prepaid in full at the time the vehicle is dropped off or prior to being released at destination, unless credit has been established in writing with AML. We accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express, personal checks, and cash.
  • Please provide your booking number when dropping your vehicle to our Service Center. For hours of operation and other information view a list of our locations.
  • View our sailing schedules to get sailing dates, transit time, and cargo cutoff times.
  • We will inspect your vehicle when it arrives at the terminal. Any scratches, dents, chips, tears, broken pieces, etc., will be noted on the inspection form. Please be prepared to wait while we inspect your vehicle. You will be given a copy of the inspection report for your records.
  • Track your shipment with the AML tracking number, or booking number, in our tracking center.
  • Receive automatic email notifications with Shipment Updates when your shipment departs origin, arrives at destination, and the date it will be available for pickup.Tracking your vehicle shipment
