Training Director / Director of HSSE
Tyler has been with Alaska West Express since February 2012. His emergency response experience began in 1992 when he joined the local fire department, ambulance service, and specialized rescue team.
Don Werhonig
Lead Instructor / HSSE Manager
Don has been with Alaska West Express since November of 2013 working as a HSSE Specialist, HSSE Manager and the Lead Instructor for the Lynden Training Center.
Bradley Kurtz
HSSE Technician
Brad has been with Alaska West Express since September of 2019 working as an HSSE Technician, Assistant Instructor, and Inventory & Logistics Coordinator for the Lynden Training Center.
Brandon Campbell
HSSE Technician
Brandon has been with Alaska West Express since January 2024, where he works as an HSSE Technician and assists with the Lynden Training Center.
Carl Humphrey
HSSE Specialist
Carl began his career with Alaska West Express in 2006 as a Freight Operator in the Fairbanks yard. He later transferred to the Chemical Transfer Facility, where he worked as a Technician.
Jason Phillips
HSSE Specialist
Jason started off as a municipal fire fighter for the North Star Fire Department after high school. He then transitioned into the explosives industry, where he worked for several years.
Mark Pliska
HSSE Specialist
Mark has been with Alaska West Express since March 2024, serving as a HSSE Specialist, Asset Reliability Specialist, Apprenticeship Coordinator, and Instructor.
James Maltby
Instructor
Jim has been an instructor for the Lynden Training Center since the day it opened in 1995. His background includes 9 years with the United States Air Force as a Crash/Fire/Rescue Specialist and Fire Inspector.
Fred Austin
Associate Instructor
Fred has been working for Lynden for more than 40 years as a professional truck driver and pilot car operator. He has been an instructor for the Lynden Training Center since 2006. Fred brings his vast professional operator experience to the Lynden Training Center’s equipment operator courses.
