Jason Phillips

Jason started off as a municipal fire fighter for the North Star Fire Department after high school. He then transitioned into the explosives industry, where he worked for several years. Jason has over 20 years of experience in the transportation industry, working as a forklift operator, local driver, linehaul driver, and eventually as an owner‑operator of his own truck. He joined Alaska West Express as an independent contractor in 2019 and spent three years in that role before transitioning to the Alaska West Express HSSE Team in 2022. He currently works as an HSSE Specialist, Driver Trainer, and Instructor for the Lynden Training Center. Jason has also been a member of the Fairbanks North Star Borough Hazardous Materials Response Team since 2022. 

Jason is an instructor for Lynden Training Center equipment operation courses, including Commercial Motor Vehicle driver training, Entry-Level Driver Training, forklift, loader, manlift, skid steer, zoom boom, and hazardous materials transportation in accordance with 49 CFR regulations. He also assists with our emergency response training courses, including rope rescue, hazardous materials, and confined space entry.
