Project Details: This project consisted of extending both safety areas, reconstructing the runway, replacing airfield lighting, and relocating a segment of Ballyhoo Road including utilidors in that corridor. A runway approach and safety area was extended 200 feet into Unalaska Bay, lengthening the runway. Knik also reconstructed the runway and taxiway pavements; extended the runway approach 200 feet into Iliuliuk Bay (Dutch Harbor) and constructed a 150-foot blast pad on the runway.
