Dock to Driver Training Program

At Lynden, we are looking for candidates who want to learn from the ground up by working our docks while going to school to get the training needed to earn a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) class A.

You’ll have an assigned mentor and learn about Lynden, so when you receive your license, you’re ready to move into the driver’s seat.

We even pay the tuition at an accredited school of your choice.

Driver pay varies by service lane, type of position, and the requirements for the position. Many of our driver job postings list the pay for that specific position.

Twice a month or every two weeks.

Team drivers receive $0.37-$0.40 per mile; singles $0.47 per mile. Drivers who receive hourly pay can receive overtime pay for additional hours worked.

Yes. Bonuses are paid based on performance and safe driving when applicable.

Yes. Drivers receive additional pay for layovers, oversized loads, equipment breakdowns, border delays and other unexpected situations.

Full-time, local pickup and delivery, line-haul and over the road.

Drivers must be 21 years old and possess a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class A with a clean driving record. They must have the ability to obtain hazmat, tankers and doubles endorsements and a passport may be required for special projects.

Schedules vary by Service Center location and driver type. Driver teams of two run 3-6 days out with 2-3 days at home.

Approximately 8 to 12 hours each day.

Teams average 17,000 miles per month and singles,10,000 per month. Other driving positions vary by Service Center location.

Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, paid extended leave and paid holidays.

On average, trucks must be 5 years or newer. If older, trucks are inspected before leasing and every month thereafter.

Experience requirements vary by route, location, and type of equipment.

$3,500 to $4,500 on average.

Typically about 6 weeks or long enough to satisfy the state’s hourly requirements.

After a driving candidate successfully passes the required courses, we extend training through our Dock to Driver Training Program. Drivers learn from the ground up by working on our docks while going to school to get the training needed to earn a CDL Class A license.

Endorsements are certifications offered by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or some driving schools and may include: Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card, hazmat, tankers or doubles.

Yes. If a candidate has a clean driving record for the past 3-5 years.
