Hanjin Shipping Announces Bankruptcy

Dear Valuable Customer:

On Wednesday, August 31, 2016, ocean carrier Hanjin Shipping announced its decision to apply for court receivership (corporate bankruptcy). In light of this news, Lynden International has taken immediate action to minimize the impact it may have on our customers and their cargo:

  • We have instructed all our offices to immediately cease bookings with Hanjin. All CKYHE Alliance members we employ for service have also stopped booking their cargo on Hanjin vessels.
  • Where possible, cargo currently booked on Hanjin vessels is being rebooked to alternate carriers/vessels.
  • Release of cargo currently onboard Hanjin vessels will be confirmed once specific details from local terminal operators, rail terminals, and/or other CKYHE Alliance partners becomes available.

This situation is fluid and its overall impact is largely out of our control or influence. However, Lynden International is doing everything possible to protect our customers' interests and minimize disruption to their supply chain. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your local Lynden International office for assistance.
