Owner: State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities

Project Details: The St. George project included 15 of foamed asphalt treated base on the runway, taxiway and apron and 24,000 ton of hot mix asphalt (HMA) to pave the runway, taxiway and apron. A quarry site was opened by Knik and a rock crushing plant was set up to crush over 30,000 tons of aggregate. The project required temporary runway lighting so airplanes could land on half the runway while reconditioning work on the other half was complete. The paving was done at night so that air traffic was not affected.
